Volume going up, not out

This shell puts 9,500 gallons on a 120 inch circle by going tall, which suits a crowded pad or a containment area that is already drawn. The cost is height: 215 inches plus the platform, fill line and vent above the manway, so check overhead clearance on the pad and on the delivery route. The 1.9 wall is for liquids up to 1.9 times the weight of water; that extra wall is why it weighs 3,600 lb empty. Tall and narrow means the load is concentrated, with up to 150,537 lb on a 120 inch floor. What to check before you buy

1. The liquid. Confirm the specific gravity and the working temperature. Heavier than 1.9 or warmer than 120 F needs a different tank; tell us what it is.
2. The outlet. This page lists the manway, not a bottom fitting. Tell us the liquid and the line size, and we will confirm the fitting, its size and material before you buy pipe. At this height the base fitting carries a tall column of liquid, so connect hard pipe through a flexible connector and support the first valve independently.
3. The manway. 18 inch threaded and vented, 215 inches off the pad. Plan a fixed ladder and a railed platform. Fill through a dip tube to the floor so the liquid does not free-fall the full height.
4. The level. The black wall hides it; fit a gauge you can read from the ground.

At 120 inches across it moves as a permitted oversize load; walk the gate and the turn onto the pad before delivery day.
