Openings, plumbing and what to check before you buy

1. Inlet and outlet. 4 inch each, gasket with tee assembly, supplied loose inside the tank. Seat each gasket dry first, then set the tee so the inlet drops below the liquid line and the outlet draws from below the scum layer. The inlet invert must sit above the outlet invert.
2. The lid. One 20 inch opening. Bring it to grade with a riser so the tank can be pumped and the baffle inspected without digging.
3. Depth of bury. The tank is 51 inches tall. Add the riser and the cover your code requires and check that against the invert of the building sewer. The inlet, outlet, vent and drain tie-in walkthrough covers the layout.
4. Temperature. Norwesco rates the tank to 130 F. Household waste is far below that.

Have the hole open and the bedding ready for the delivery window so the 549 lb tank is lifted once, from the truck into the hole. Set the tank on a level bed of compacted sand or pea gravel, never on rock or clods, and follow Norwesco's instructions for filling both compartments with water as you backfill, so the pressure inside keeps pace with the soil outside and the baffle is never loaded from one side only.
