2,000 gallons at 1.9 specific gravity, ASTM certified
The Snyder 5050000N45 is a white polyethylene vertical liquid storage tank, 90 inches across and 88 inches tall, holding 2,000 gallons at 400 pounds. Its wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 31,692 pounds of contents against 16,680 for water, the chemical-grade wall for ferric chloride at strength, concentrated acids and the heavy brines, and it is sold with ASTM certification for jobs that need the paper, on a low, wide shape that cannot tip. An 18 inch threaded, vented manway on top, a 3 year warranty, and it ships as standard LTL freight.

The full-density wall, certified, laid low
A 1.9 specific gravity wall is sized for a liquid nearly twice as dense as water, and 400 pounds of resin is what that takes at 2,000 gallons, 60 pounds more than the certified 1.5 wall in this same shell. The certification is against ASTM D1998; the HDPE tank wall thickness guide explains the sizing logic and why the headspace is where a wall ages, and the freeboard sizing guide works out the usable volume once thermal expansion, which is large for a dense chemical, is accounted for. A 2,000 gallon tank breathes hard on a fast fill or pump-out, and the vent is sized for that; the atmospheric vent capacity guide works the API 2000 arithmetic. Full, it puts 31,692 pounds on a 90 inch circle at the rating, which a slab in full contact carries, and the low shape puts it there without a lever arm. The tank sizing calculator sizes the tank to feed rate and delivery interval, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve.
Grades on the 90 x 88 inch tank, and the sizes beside it
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5050000N45 (this tank, 1.9 SG, ASTM certified) | 2,000 | 90 x 88 in | 400 lb |
| 5050000N43 (1.5 SG, ASTM certified) | 2,000 | 90 x 88 in | 340 lb |
| 5050000N39 (1.35 SG, ASTM certified) | 2,000 | 90 x 88 in | 325 lb |
| 5050000C26 | 2,000 | 90 x 88 in | 340 lb |
| 5050000C37-BLACK | 2,000 | 90 x 88 in | 340 lb |
| 1780200N40 (tall, XLPE) | 1,900 | 72 x 119 in | 445 lb |
| 5090000C26 | 2,500 | 90 x 107 in | 450 lb |
The N43 and N39 are the certified 1.5 and 1.35 walls in this same shell for coagulants, brines and water that never approach this density; the C26 and C37-BLACK are the general-grade tanks in white and black. The 1780200N40 stands 1,900 gallons on a 72 inch base in cross-linked resin for oxidizers, and the 5090000C26 is the 2,500 gallon step up on this base, 19 inches taller.

Ports
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway; vent outside on acid and caustic service, fill through a dip tube, and size the vent for a delivery truck's unload rate.
- Outlet: tell us the chemical when ordering and the bulkhead fitting is matched to it; a flexible connector between the bulkhead and the hard pipe, with the valve carried on its own support.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
- Listing: ASTM certification.
Choose the level sender for the chemical; a low-level switch protects the pump. The dosing pump sits below the outlet so it primes by gravity, keep the manway closed against vapor loss, and shade the tank where the chemical is light-sensitive. Put a regulated chemical in a single wall tank and the berm around it has to hold all of it. Where it freezes, insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first length of pipe.
Receiving a delivery
A delivery truck pumps faster than a manway vent can breathe, so either the vent is sized to the unload rate or the fill gets its own top bulkhead and vent line. Run the fill pipe to the floor so caustic or coagulant does not free-fall and foam. Diluting a dense chemical makes heat, so a batch is built water first and chemical second, never the reverse. Somebody stands at the tank for the whole of the first delivery, checking the outlet fitting as the level rises, and from then on each load is logged by date and strength.
Where you will find one
Ferric and other dense coagulants at a small plant with a berm, acid feed for pH control, heavy brine for a softener bank, and any 2,000 gallon vessel of dense chemical where the certification has to be on file, including a fire reserve of the kind the fire-water reservoir design guide describes when it holds water. One chemical per tank, labeled.
Shipping the tank
The 5050000N45 ships palletized as LTL freight (NMFC 156600-01) at a class rate; the freight cost estimator turns your ZIP into a freight number; the price on this page is before freight. A forklift with long forks sets 400 pounds on the pad. Water-fill it once to the manway, hold it, then drain and dry before the chemical connection is made, and keep the certification paperwork with the project file. Walk the base after the first hard rain; a pad that shifts shows it at the edge first.
