Why the tall shell

At 62 inches the base valve on this tote sits higher above the floor than on any of Snyder's other 275 gallon totes, which is what you want when the tote has to fill a drum, a mix tank inlet or a flooded pump suction without a transfer pump doing the work. The manway on top is the second half of the argument: it lets somebody look inside, drop a mixer or a probe through, wash the tank out and prove it clean. What it costs is the ceiling and the forklift. Sixty-two inches on a pallet is taller again in transit and will not pass under a mezzanine, a low beam or a roller door that a shorter tote clears, and 354 lb empty is a machine at both ends of every move. Where the handling equipment or the shelf is the constraint, the lighter 275 gallon totes linked below are the sensible answer and we would rather say so. Set whichever you buy on a flat, continuous, level surface carrying the full 46 inch square: rack beams sized for the plan, a solid deck, a slab. Not two pallets, not a pallet with a soft board, not blocks at the corners. At 2,294 lb of water and 4,358 lb at the rating, the rack beam rating is a number to look up rather than assume.

What goes in it

Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch ball valve, factory fitted. Support the first length of hose so the valve carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Inlet. A 2 inch bung for a closed fill from a hose or a pump.
3. Manway. A threaded vented manway on top. Two different sizes are on file for this opening, so confirm the size with us against Snyder's drawing before you order a mixer, a probe or a gasket for it.
