The duty that needs a hand and an arm inside the tank

The duty is any product that has to be looked at, stirred, sampled properly, scraped or washed out between batches: a coating or adhesive that skins over, a polymer or flocculant that has to be made up and kept moving, a dye or pigment that settles into the bottom corners, a food or brewing additive on a short shelf life, a cleaning chemistry that leaves a film on the wall, or any changeover where the next thing in the tote must not meet the last thing in it. A manway is the difference between inspecting a tank and guessing about it: a light and a head over it, an arm and a brush through it, a mixer shaft or a level probe dropped through without cutting anything, and the floor of the tank visible while it is being washed. That is worth the buy even where the product is unremarkable, because the cost of a tote nobody can clean is measured in the batches it spoils. The tank still wants a flat, continuous, level surface under the whole 45 by 46 inch plan, with no gap under the middle and nothing packed under a corner. Empty it is 268 lb, which is forks or a pallet jack, not two people. Full of water it is 2,294 lb and at the rating 4,358 lb, a real load for a rack beam and worth checking before anything goes up.

What goes in it

Water, most fertilizers and the common process chemistries polyethylene handles, up to 1.9 times the weight of water and up to 120 F. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch ball valve, factory fitted. Support the first length of hose so the valve carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Inlet. A 2 inch bung for a closed fill from a hose or a pump.
3. Manway. A threaded vented manway on top. Two different sizes are on file for this opening, so confirm the size with us against Snyder's drawing before you order a mixer, a probe or a gasket for it.
