The Snyder Industries 5000 Gallon HDPE Vertical Liquid Storage Tank is a 5,000-gallon white polyethylene vertical storage tank rated to 1.9 specific gravity and built to ASTM standards. It stands 154 inches tall on a 102 x 102 inch footprint, so before you ever schedule delivery, confirm overhead clearance and the access path: a tank this tall needs roughly 13 feet of vertical clearance and a path wider than its 102-inch base to roll and stand it. For water service the number that drives your foundation is full-water weight: roughly 41,700 lb of liquid load on the pad when topped off. Engineer your slab and ring foundation for that weight, not for the empty tank.

Will this vertical HDPE storage tank work for your site

This is a vertical HDPE tank, a standard choice for bulk water storage and process makeup water. The 1.9 SG rating means the wall is sized with extra thickness, giving you headroom well past the density of water. That same heavier-duty wall also lets this water tank cross over to denser liquids like brine and some chemical service; if your fluid runs above 1.9 SG, call 866-418-1777 and we will spec a tank purpose-built for that weight. The technical drawing on this page shows the molded body and fitting layout. Plan your plumbing around the listed fittings: an 18-inch PE threaded and vented manway, a 12 x 23 inch fitting, a flat fitting pad, and a flange location. Match your inlet and outlet hardware, gaskets, and any flange bolt pattern to the 18-inch threaded manway and the flange shown on the drawing, and ask us to confirm gasket compatibility for your fluid before you order. The vented manway matters: a sealed tank that fills or drains fast without adequate venting can deform, so keep that vent path clear and never throttle it down to a smaller opening than the tank was designed for.

Sizing and weight planning

Full of water, this tank puts about 41,700 lb on its base; the structure itself is rated to carry up to 79,230 lb of contents at its maximum SG, which is why it handles water with room to spare. The 102-inch footprint needs a level, fully supported pad across the entire base, not point supports or a partial ring. Run your numbers through the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to match drawdown rate and reserve volume to your usage before you commit to 5,000 gallons. When you size usable volume, account for freeboard and thermal-expansion headroom rather than nameplate gallons alone; our Snyder freeboard sizing guide per ASTM D1998 walks through the real volume you can actually use. For wall-thickness behavior over the tank's life, including how the vapor-saturated headspace ages differently than the wetted wall, see our guide on HDPE tank wall thickness and ASTM D1998 sizing logic.

The mistake to avoid

The common error on a tank this size is treating venting, foundation, and offload as afterthoughts. The 18-inch vented manway exists for a reason; do not cap or restrict it. Because a full 5,000-gallon tank is heavy, an undersized or uneven pad is the failure mode that shows up months later as stress at the base knuckle. And confirm you have a forklift or crane rated to handle the empty-tank offload before the truck arrives, plus the clearance and gate width noted above. If this is going into rural fire-water duty, our fire-water reservoir design guide walks through NFPA 22 reserve sizing and cold-climate freeze protection.

This vertical storage tank ships LTL freight from the Snyder plant in Philippi, West Virginia, quoted live to your ZIP. Get an exact number with our Freight Cost Estimator, or call 866-418-1777 and we will work out delivery and offload for a tank this large.
