The 5,000 gallon double wall chemical tank at 1.9 specific gravity
The Snyder 5630000N45 is a double wall chemical storage tank: a 5,000 gallon white high density linear polyethylene primary rated for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 79,230 pounds of contents against 41,700 for water, standing inside its own secondary containment in a shell 102 inches across and 216 inches tall, weighing 4,300 pounds. It is the full-density wall, for ferric chloride at strength, concentrated acids and the heavy brines, with the berm built in, sized to take a full tanker and hold a reserve. The manway on the primary is 18 inches, threaded and vented, and the tank carries a 3 year warranty.

The heavy wall with the berm inside
A 1.9 specific gravity wall is sized for a liquid nearly twice as dense as water, and at 5,000 gallons that is 4,300 pounds of resin in the primary and the outer shell together, the heaviest tank on this base. A single wall tank of that chemical needs a berm sized to its volume, a concrete basin with a sump and a drain valve that must stay closed; a double wall tank carries its containment inside the outer shell, so the 102 inch footprint is the whole footprint, and the SPCC 40 CFR 112 compliance walkthrough covers where that satisfies a spill plan on its own. What follows is the chemistry the resin is rated to hold; check the liquid at its concentration in the chemical compatibility database. The 5,000 gallon vertical tank buyers guide and the 141 by 86 inch 5,000 gallon guide compare the single wall tanks at this volume, the right comparison only if a berm is already in place. The tank sizing calculator works the volume out from feed rate and delivery interval, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve.
Grades on the 102 x 216 inch double wall, and the sizes beside it
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5630000N45 (this tank, 1.9 SG) | 5,000 | 102 x 216 in | 4,300 lb |
| 5630000N43 (1.5 SG, NSF 61) | 5,000 | 102 x 216 in | 3,600 lb |
| 5630000N42 (XLPE) | 5,000 | 102 x 216 in | 4,300 lb |
| 5630000N40 (XLPE, lighter wall) | 5,000 | 102 x 216 in | 3,600 lb |
| 5620000N30 (sulfuric grade) | 4,500 | 102 x 197 in | 3,800 lb |
| 5660000N40 (XLPE, wide) | 5,500 | 120 x 172 in | 3,200 lb |
The N43 is the 1.5 wall, 700 pounds lighter, for coagulants and brines that never approach this density. The N42 is cross-linked polyethylene for oxidizers at this tank's weight, and the N40 is the lighter cross-linked wall. The 5620000N30 is the 4,500 gallon sulfuric-grade double wall, 19 inches shorter on the same base, and the 5660000N40 lays 5,500 gallons down to 172 inches on a 120 inch base for a lower roof.

Where the pipe goes, and the leak alarm
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway on the primary, 216 inches up; on acid or caustic the vent goes outdoors, the fill goes down a dip tube, and the vent is sized to the tanker pump.
- Outlet: one penetration through both walls, a flanged transition, an expansion joint, and a valve on its own support; specify the fitting for the chemical when ordering.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
There are two levels to watch: the primary, with a sender chosen for the chemical per the level gauge selection guide, and the interstitial space, monitored with a float or conductivity switch, looked at each shift, and logged each week. Anything found in the space is a primary leak, and the tank comes out of service that day. The outer shell carries nothing, is drilled for nothing, and the space between the walls stores nothing. Full, the tank loads a 102 inch circle to 79,230 pounds at the rating: an engineered slab bearing under the entire floor, the empty tank strapped down against wind, and at 216 inches the manway is reached from a fixed platform with a rail.
When the truck arrives
A tanker's pump moves liquid faster than a manway vent can pass air, so either the vent is sized to the unload rate or the fill comes in through its own top bulkhead with a separate vent line. The fill pipe runs to the floor so the liquid does not free-fall and foam. A dense liquid heats when water is added to it, so a batch tank is filled with water before the chemical, never after. The first delivery into a new tank is watched from start to finish, with the slab edge, the outlet fitting and the interstitial port checked as the level climbs.
Applications
Ferric, acid and caustic bulk storage at water and wastewater plants that cannot build a berm, dense process chemicals inside tall process buildings, and any regulated liquid at plant scale at a site an inspector visits. Label it for the fire inspector and the workplace inspector at once, keep one chemical in it, and keep the manway closed.

On the truck
At 102 inches across and 216 inches long on the deck the 5630000N45 is oversize freight (NMFC 156600) on a flatbed at a lane rate; the freight cost estimator quotes the haul to your ZIP; what is listed is the price before freight. A crane sets 4,300 pounds upright on the slab; a forklift gets it off the truck but cannot stand it up. Prove the primary with water and a dry interstice through the hold; drain and dry before chemical goes in. Mark the vent and the outlet on the outside of the shell so nobody caps the wrong one in the dark.
