What the certification means for a buyer

Where the pipe goes

An 18 inch manway on a 48 inch tank makes cleaning and instrumenting easy; a float switch, a sender and a fill hose all fit at once. Pipe the outlet through a flexible transition so the tank can grow and shrink with temperature without working the fitting, and leave the vent in the manway clear so a pump cannot pull the wall inward on a fast draw.

The work it does

As a water tank it is a pressure buffer for a slow well, a rain cistern, or one unit of the fire reserve described in the fire-water reservoir design guide. As a liquid storage tank with the 1.9 wall, it holds brine, fertilizer or treatment chemicals up to that density.
