Cone Bottom Tanks
Cone-Bottom Tanks — Comprehensive Catalog
Cone-bottom (also called cone-bottom or full-drain) polyethylene tanks are engineered for applications where complete sediment evacuation, batch mixing, or downstream dosing matters. The angled bottom — 15°, 22.5°, 30°, 45°, or 60° from horizontal — drives settled solids toward the centerline drain and lets you empty the vessel to a true zero residual. Our catalog covers every active SKU from Norwesco, Snyder Industries, Chem-Tainer, Enduraplas, and Bushman.
Applications
- Batch mixing of fertilizers, surfactants, and process chemicals — solids settle and drain cleanly
- Chemical inductor / dissolution service — dry chemical mixing into water before spray
- Wastewater pre-treatment — solids drop-out and decant
- Slurry storage and dewatering — sand, polymer, sediment ponds
- Total-drain chemical feed for metering pumps (no dead-leg residue)
Compliance & Standards
Typically rotomolded to ASTM D1998; FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 resin compliance varies by model (see each product's Specifications). Cone bottoms must be supported by a properly rated steel stand — every cone-bottom tank is shipped with or sized for a matching stand (verify on each listing). Stand height equals cone height plus minimum 6" clearance for valve/discharge piping. Confirm working SG rating against your fluid; cone-bottom geometry concentrates head pressure at the centerline drain.
Engineering & Selection
Cone angle directly governs how cleanly your tank will drain. 15° works for free-flowing liquids only. 22.5°–30° is the sweet spot for most chemical and fertilizer service. 45°–60° is required for slurries, settled solids, or viscous fluids — anything that won't self-flow at shallower angles. Steeper cone means taller overall height and a taller stand, so verify ceiling clearance before ordering. Outlet sizing scales with intended flow rate: 2" for gravity discharge to drum, 3"–4" for pump suction or batch transfer.
Freight & Delivery
Tanks ship LTL motor freight from the closest stocking warehouse to your delivery ZIP. Typical transit 5–10 business days. Liftgate available at delivery (per-shipment fee). Always inspect at delivery and note damage on the bill of lading before signing — that is the carrier claim trigger. Bulk-order consolidation reduces per-tank freight 25–40%. Get your LTL freight quote by ZIP, or call 866-418-1777 for same-business-day quoted pricing.
Sizing & Selection
Capacity first, cone angle second, stand height third. Need help matching cone angle to your fluid? Call 866-418-1777 with your fluid, viscosity, and dosing requirements.
