The 1,000 gallon tank that fits a 60 inch footprint
The Snyder 32523 holds 1,000 gallons on a 60 inch circle, standing 89 inches tall, in black polyethylene, 157 pounds empty. It is the narrow answer to the 1,000 gallon question, for the site that has height to spare and floor to save. A 20 inch threaded vented manway on top is larger than the 18 inch access on most tanks this size, and the 2 inch outlet and 1-1/2 inch inlet are both polypropylene bulkhead fittings. Rated for a specific gravity of 1.0, which is to say water.

Snyder molds 1,000 gallons three ways: 60 inches across at 89 tall, 72 across at 65, and, for 100 more gallons, 86 across at 53. The tank you want is the one whose footprint you have, and the wall you want depends on how much sun it will see; the green 32525 from this same mold carries 45 more pounds of resin for a tank that stands full in the open. The 60 inch shape here is the space-saver; the 72 inch WB41R is the compromise that fits under an 8 foot ceiling with room to open the manway; the 86 inch WB42 is for under a deck. The buyer's guides for the 64 by 81 inch and 72 by 66 inch variants walk through the same trade for two other 1,000 gallon footprints.

Standing 8,340 pounds on 60 inches
Full, the tank weighs 8,340 pounds, and on a narrow footprint that concentrates the load and raises the center of gravity. It needs a level pad in full contact with the whole floor; anything that lets one side settle puts the wall in bending. The concrete pad sizing guide works the ACI 360R-10 method for this. Service limit is 120 F / 48 C; the black wall keeps light and algae out of stored water.
The 20 inch manway
Twenty inches is the difference between looking into a tank and reaching into it. It makes a cleanout or a float valve service a one-person job from the top, and the vent in the lid is what lets air in as a pump draws water out, so it must stay unobstructed. Put a full-port valve on the 2 inch outlet before the pump, with a union between them, and use the 1-1/2 inch top inlet for the fill line or float valve. For a gauge, a sight tube on the outlet is the simple choice; the level gauge selection guide covers sensors.
A thousand gallons at work
It is the classic well reserve and rainwater size, and the smallest tank a rural fire plan usually counts; the fire-water reservoir design guide sets out what NFPA 22 expects from a poly reserve. As a collection tank in a reuse system it sits ahead of treatment, per the industrial water reuse topology guide. Work the days of supply with the tank sizing calculator and the tank sizing guide.
Freight
LTL freight, NMFC 156600-01, 157 pounds crated at 60 by 60 by 89 inches; the freight cost estimator quotes your ZIP and the listed price is before freight. Two people can stand it up and walk it to the pad, and at 89 inches it needs a step to open the manway once set. Fill in stages the first time and watch the base, following the hydrostatic test methodology guide.
