The Snyder Industries 1500 Gallon Plastic Vertical Water Storage Tank in Black (Snyder part SII-WB47) is a 1500-gallon vertical water storage tank molded from High Density Linear Polyethylene and rated to a specific gravity of 1.0 for water and water-density contents. It stands 71 inches tall on an 86-inch diameter round footprint, so before the tank arrives you need to confirm both the headroom for the 18-inch vented manway lid up top and the slab dimensions on the ground. Filled to capacity, water loads the pad at 12,510 pounds, and the maximum rated contents weight is the same 12,510 pounds at SG 1.0, so the foundation has to be engineered for that figure rather than estimated.
Will this tank work for your install?
This is a vertical water storage tank built for atmospheric bulk storage: water supply backup, rainwater and reuse aggregation, fire-water reserve, and general industrial process water. The HDLPE wall and 1.0 specific gravity rating cover water and other contents at roughly water density. The base is a wide 86-inch round footprint and the fill height is 71 inches, so the tank carries its load over a broad base rather than a tall narrow column. Rated SG 1.0 is the ceiling here: this is for water and water-density contents only. For anything heavier than water (specific gravity above 1.0), this is not the right tank, and you should call 866-418-1777 for a higher-SG-rated option. Because the full water weight is 12,510 pounds, size your concrete pad to ACI guidance and verify settlement on first fill rather than guessing the load. Our Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide help confirm the 1500-gallon capacity matches your draw and refill cycle.
Fittings and access
The factory configuration on this tank, per the technical drawing on this page, includes a flange and a 9" x 9" fitting, plus a 2-inch polypropylene bulkhead fitting with an EPDM gasket and a 1-1/2-inch polypropylene Eco-bulkhead fitting with an EPDM gasket. Access is through an 18-inch polyethylene manway assembly with a 4-inch vent and tie-down. Order mating adapters to the 2-inch and 1-1/2-inch bulkhead threads, and note the EPDM gaskets are sized for water service at SG 1.0. Confirm your inlet, outlet, and overflow plumbing against the drawing before you order adapters, since the bulkhead sizes and gasket material are fixed by what is molded and installed. The 4-inch vent on the manway matters: a sealed tank pulling vacuum on a fast draw or collapsing on a rapid fill is the most common avoidable mistake on a vertical storage install, so keep that vent clear.
Plan the foundation and the freight
The mistake to avoid here is treating the pad as an afterthought. At 12,510 pounds full, this tank needs a level, properly sized concrete pad, and the install should be proven with a controlled water fill and hold so you catch pad settlement and fitting leaks before the tank goes into service. Our concrete pad sizing guide and hydrostatic test methodology walk through the load math and the fill-and-hold acceptance procedure. If this is feeding a rural fire-protection stack or a grey-water and rainwater reuse train, our fire-water reservoir design guide and water reuse tank topology guide cover the system design around the tank.
