The Snyder Industries 1500 Gallon Vertical Water Storage Tank (SII-WG45) is a polyethylene vertical tank molded in green for above-ground bulk water storage. It stands 70 inches tall on an 86 x 86 inch round footprint and carries a 1.0 specific gravity rating, matched to water and other contents at the same density. At full water capacity it holds 1,500 gallons weighing 12,510 pounds, and that full-water load is the number that drives your pad and anchoring decisions. Because Snyder molds this vertical storage tank at two plants, freight on this water storage tank is quoted live from whichever is closer to your ZIP.
Will it work for your site
This is a straight vertical water tank, molded in green and sized for storage where floor space is tight relative to volume. The fittings shown on the technical drawing on this page are:
- Flange
- 12" x 15" fitting
- 1-1/2" polypropylene bulkhead fitting with EPDM gasket
- 2" polypropylene bulkhead fitting with EPDM gasket
- 18" polyethylene manway assembly with 4" vent and tie-down
Keep the 4" vent on the manway clear. A sealed lid on a tank you are actively drawing down can pull a vacuum and collapse the wall, so that vent is doing real work every time you draw the tank down. Both bulkhead outlets use EPDM gaskets, so confirm your plumbing is compatible with EPDM before you connect it. Run your draw volume and refill rate through the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to confirm 1,500 gallons covers your demand.
Foundation and install
A full tank puts 12,510 pounds onto that 86 x 86 inch footprint, so the pad has to be sized for the load and dead flat. Our guide on concrete pad sizing for above-ground polyethylene tanks walks through the ACI 360R-10 framework for getting that right. Once it is set, fill it with water and watch it before you trust it; the hydrostatic test methodology guide covers fill discipline, pad-settlement monitoring, and fitting leak checks for new-install acceptance. For rural fire reserve or water-reuse duty, our writeups on fire-water reservoir design and industrial water reuse tank topology go deeper on those applications.
The mistake to avoid
This tank is rated to 1.0 specific gravity, which means it is built for water-weight contents. Filling it with anything denser than water (many chemicals and brines run heavier) overloads the wall beyond what the 1.0 rating allows. If your contents are heavier than water, ask us for a tank rated for that higher specific gravity rather than running this one out of spec. Keep this tank on water-weight service and you stay inside the design.
