Ports and access

• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 100 inches up; vent outside on anything that fumes, fill by dip tube and give the vent the capacity of a tanker unload.
• Outlet: the bulkhead fitting is chosen for the liquid at order time; an expansion joint and a flexible connector between the bulkhead and hard pipe, with the valve carried on the slab.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.

The black wall hides the level, so tee a sight tube off the outlet or fit a sender read at ground level; a float switch for low level protects a pump, and the low shape keeps the suction flooded to the last few inches. On a chemical, choose the sender for the liquid and keep the manway closed against vapor loss. In a freezing climate insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first run of pipe; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.

Receiving a tanker

The driver's pump can deliver faster than the manway vent can breathe, so the vent is sized for the unload rate or the fill goes through a dedicated top bulkhead with its own vent line. The fill pipe reaches the floor, so the liquid enters below the surface instead of free-falling and foaming. The first load into a new tank gets watched end to end, eyes on the slab edge and the outlet fitting while the level comes up, and from then on each load is logged by date and strength.
