The Snyder Industries 4100 Gallon HDPE Vertical Liquid Storage Tank is a 120-inch-wide, 100-inch-tall vertical storage tank molded from high density linear polyethylene with a 1.5 specific gravity rating, built by Snyder Industries to ASTM D1998 - the standard for upright polyethylene storage tanks - for above-ground bulk water service. At a 120 x 120 inch footprint it holds 4,100 gallons in a single white vertical tank, which makes it a workhorse for rural fire-water reservoirs, irrigation supply, and process-water buffering where a tall, large-diameter vessel is the practical answer.

Will it work for your site?

Filled with plain water, this tank carries roughly 34,194 pounds of contents at full volume; at its full 1.5 specific gravity rating the maximum rated contents weight climbs to 51,291 pounds. That ~17,100-pound spread between water-full and max-rated is the foundation margin you are buying - engineer the pad to the 51,291-pound rating, not the water number, if there is any chance of heavier service down the line. Use those figures when you size your concrete pad and foundation, not a rule of thumb, since the loaded weight is substantial and the slab has to be matched to the load. Our concrete pad sizing guide walks through the ACI 360R-10 framework and the ACI 318 boundary. To confirm the gallonage fits your demand profile before you commit, run the Tank Sizing Calculator and review the Tank Sizing Guide.

Fittings and configuration

The tank is supplied with a flange, an 18-inch PE threaded manway for access and inspection, and eight flat fitting locations spaced at 45 degrees around the tank for adding outlets and connections where your plumbing needs them. Bulkhead fittings or threaded outlets land on those molded flat pads and require a matching gasket or O-ring sized to the fitting, so confirm the exact size, thread spec, and elevation of each connection against the technical drawing on this page before you order valves, bulkhead fittings, or a fill line - and verify your tie-ins land on the molded flats rather than the tank wall. Because this shell is rated to 1.5 specific gravity, the same footprint supports liquids heavier than water, so plain-water service runs well within the design envelope and the tank stays useful if your duty shifts to heavier process or chemical service later.

The mistake to avoid

The most common error on a large vertical tank this tall is underbuilding the foundation. The 100-inch fill height puts real hydrostatic head on the base and the loaded weight has to transfer cleanly into the ground; a slab poured for a smaller tank or set on unprepared soil is where premature problems start. Because the upper shell of an HDPE vertical tank sits in vapor-saturated headspace, it pays to understand where stress concentrates over the service life - our writeup on HDPE tank wall thickness at the vapor-saturated headspace ties it back to the same ASTM D1998 sizing logic. If this is going into fire-protection duty, size it against the right standard using our fire-water reservoir design guide, and if you need secondary containment, the Snyder Captor double-wall freeboard sizing guide explains the double-wall sibling and the usable volume you actually get.

This tank ships LTL from the single Snyder plant in Marked Tree, Arkansas, so transit distance drives the cost heavily and freight is quoted live to your ZIP based on the nearest serving terminal. Pull an exact number with the Freight Cost Estimator before you budget, or call us at 866-418-1777 and we will dial in the right vertical storage tank, fittings, and delivery for your project.
