Ports and manway
- Inlet: 1-1/2 inch.
- Outlet: 2 inch, at the base; hard pipe joined to the bulkhead through a flexible connector, valve on a bracket of its own. For a fire reserve a larger outlet is specified at order.
- Access: 26 inch manway, 159 inches up, wide enough to enter for cleaning; reached from a fixed platform, never a ladder.
A 2 inch outlet feeds a pressure pump or a fire pump's suction without starving it, and thirteen feet of water above it gives the pump a flooded suction to the last few inches. Tee a sight tube off the outlet to read the level through the green wall, or fit a sender read at ground level. Where it freezes, insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first length of pipe; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.
Day-to-day duty
