5,500 gallons of chemical storage on a ten foot base
The Snyder 7000000N43 is a white polyethylene vertical chemical storage tank, 120 inches across and 132 inches tall, holding 5,500 gallons at 1,155 pounds. The sheet rates its wall for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 87,153 pounds of contents against 45,870 for water, and the wide base keeps that load eleven feet off the ground instead of eighteen, with the 18 inch manway reachable from a short platform. A 3 year warranty, and it ships as oversize freight.

Bulk chemical on a low tank
A tanker compartment is about 5,000 gallons, so a 5,500 gallon tank takes a full delivery with the reserve left in, and the 120 inch base does it at 132 inches, where a 102 inch tank of the same volume stands well over twelve feet. The chemistry list below is what the resin is rated for; check the liquid at its concentration in the chemical compatibility database, because density rating and chemical resistance are decided separately. A single wall tank of regulated chemical needs a berm sized to its volume; the Snyder Captor 110 percent containment comparison covers when a double wall tank is the cleaner answer than a basin. The tank sizing calculator turns feed rate and delivery interval into a volume, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve.
Grades on the 120 x 132 inch tank, and the sizes beside it
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7000000N43 (this tank) | 5,500 | 120 x 132 in | 1,155 lb |
| 7000000N40 (XLPE) | 5,500 | 120 x 132 in | 1,155 lb |
| 7000000N46 | 5,500 | 120 x 132 in | 1,155 lb |
| 7000000N42 (XLPE) | 5,500 | 120 x 132 in | 750 lb |
| 7000400C26 (low profile) | 5,400 | 142 x 91 in | 750 lb |
| 5250000N40 (low profile, XLPE) | 5,600 | 142 x 102 in | 1,150 lb |
The N40 and N42 are cross-linked polyethylene for oxidizers and the N46 is another linear grade. The 7000400C26 and 5250000N40 lay 5,400 and 5,600 gallons down on a 142 inch base at 91 and 102 inches, for a site with floor and no height; the 5660000N43 is the double wall on this same 120 inch base for a site with neither a berm nor a basin.

Openings, sampling and labels
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 132 inches up; vent outside on caustic and acid service, fill through a dip tube, and size the vent for a tanker's unload rate.
- Outlet: tell us the chemical when ordering and the bulkhead fitting is matched to it; a flanged transition, an expansion joint, and a valve supported off the slab.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
Three practices make a bulk chemical tank a safe one. Choose the level sender for the chemical with the level gauge selection guide. Draw samples that represent the tank and not its stratified top, per the bulk tank chemical sampling protocol. And label it so the fire inspector and the workplace inspector read the same thing, NFPA 704 diamond and GHS pictograms reconciled as the tank label and signage compliance guide describes. Full, the tank loads a 120 inch circle to 87,153 pounds at the rating: an engineered slab bearing under the entire floor, the empty tank strapped down against wind.
Filling from a tanker
Unloading a tanker pushes air out faster than a stock manway vent can pass it; size the vent for that rate, or fill through a dedicated top bulkhead vented separately. The fill pipe runs to the floor so the liquid does not free-fall and foam. The first delivery into a new tank is watched from start to finish, with the slab edge and the outlet fitting checked as the level climbs, and each delivery after it is logged with its date and strength.
Where you will find one
Caustic, coagulant and acid bulk storage at water and wastewater plants with a berm, process chemical storage under a lower roof than a tall tank allows, and any regulated liquid at plant scale at a site an inspector visits. Give it one chemical, a label that satisfies both inspectors, and a closed manway.

Shipping the tank
At 120 inches across and 132 inches long on the deck the 7000000N43 is oversize freight (NMFC 156600) on a flatbed at a lane rate; the freight cost estimator prices it for your ZIP, and the listed price is before freight. A forklift with long forks or a small crane sets 1,155 pounds on the slab. Fill it with water to the manway once, hold the level, and look the outlet fitting over before chemical arrives. Walk the base after the first hard rain; a pad that shifts shows it at the edge first.
Freight and documents
Ships from: Lincoln, NE; Philippi, WV. LTL freight is quoted to your ZIP with the freight cost estimator or by phone at 866-418-1777. The listed price is before freight.
