5,500 gallons at 1.5 specific gravity on a 90 inch base, ASTM certified

The Snyder 7020000N43 is a white polyethylene vertical liquid storage tank, 90 inches across and 221 inches tall, holding 5,500 gallons at 1,500 pounds. Its wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.5, or 68,805 pounds of contents against 45,870 for water, so it holds brine, fertilizer solution and coagulant as delivered as well as water, it is sold with ASTM certification for jobs that need the paper, and the seven and a half foot base puts a tanker load and a reserve on a pad smaller than the tanker, eighteen and a half feet up. An 18 inch threaded, vented manway tops it, Snyder's 3 year warranty stands behind it, and it ships oversize.

The tallest tank on the small pad, in the middle wall

A water-rated wall is for water and nothing heavier; the heaviest wall is for concentrated acid; a 1.5 wall is the middle, sized for brine, fertilizer solution and coagulant as delivered and every water application, with margin, and 1,500 pounds of resin is what that takes on a shell this tall. D1998 is what the certification refers to, and it is met in the thickness of the wall; the HDPE tank wall thickness guide explains the sizing logic and why a wall this tall is inspected from the top, in the headspace, and the freeboard sizing guide works out the usable volume once thermal expansion is accounted for. Full, it puts 68,805 pounds on a 90 inch circle at the rating, the most concentrated floor load in the line: an engineered slab bearing under the entire floor, sized by the concrete pad sizing guide, with the empty tank strapped against wind at two heights and the manway reached from a fixed platform with a rail, never a ladder. The tank sizing calculator tells you whether 5,500 gallons covers the draw, and the tank sizing guide covers days of supply.

The 7020000N45 is the certified 1.9 wall in this same shell, 500 pounds heavier, for ferric at strength and the heavy brines. The 7000000 tanks stand the same 5,500 gallons on a 120 inch base at 132 inches, 89 inches shorter, for a site with a bigger pad and less height, the N45 certified at 1.9 and the N40, N42 and N46 in cross-linked and linear grades. The 7000400C26 and 5250000N40 lay 5,400 and 5,600 gallons down on a 142 inch base at 91 and 102 inches.

Connections

  • Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 221 inches up; filled by truck through a dip tube, vented outside on anything that fumes, and size the vent for a tanker's unload rate.
  • Outlet: tell us the liquid when ordering and the bulkhead fitting is matched to it; a flexible connector between the bulkhead and hard pipe, an expansion joint, and the valve supported off the slab.
  • Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
  • Listing: ASTM certification.

On a tank this tall nobody reads a level by eye; fit a sender read at ground level, and a float switch for low level protects a pump. Mount the pump below the outlet so it primes by gravity, keep the manway closed against vapor loss, and keep the tank out of direct sun where the liquid is light-sensitive. Where it freezes, insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first length of pipe; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.

Delivery day at the manway

Unloading a tanker pushes air out faster than a stock manway vent can pass it; size the vent for that rate, or fill through a dedicated top bulkhead vented separately. The fill pipe runs to the floor so the liquid does not free-fall and foam; on a shell this tall that is a long drop. Watch the first delivery from the first gallon to the last, checking the slab edge and the outlet fitting as the level rises, and the log takes the date and strength of every load that follows.

What it holds in practice

Coagulant, brine and fertilizer solution delivered by tanker at plants with height and no floor space, well storage for a community system, a reserve inside a tall process building, and a fire reserve of the kind the fire-water reservoir design guide describes, where the height gives a pump a flooded suction. One liquid per tank, labeled.

Getting it to the pad

At 90 inches across and 221 inches long on the deck the 7020000N43 is oversize freight (NMFC 156600) on a flatbed at a lane rate; the freight cost estimator prices it for your ZIP, and the listed price is before freight. A crane sets 1,500 pounds upright on the slab; unloading is a forklift job, standing it is not. Prove it with a fill to the manway and a hold, check the outlet fitting, and file the certification with the project. Once it is full and holding, leave it alone for a day before the plumbing goes on; a settled tank is a quiet one.
