The Snyder Industries 60 Gallon Vertical Double Wall Liquid Chemical Storage Tank is built for sulfuric acid and similar aggressive chemistries, pairing a primary tank inside an integral secondary containment shell so a primary breach is caught without an external berm. It molds from high density linear polyethylene, carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating, and stands 41 inches tall on a 26 x 26 inch footprint, so it fits tight pump rooms and indoor containment areas where a wide-diameter vertical storage tank will not. This is the double wall tank to specify when secondary containment is a regulatory requirement rather than an option.

Will it work for your chemical?

The 1.9 specific gravity rating is the number that matters here. It means the tank wall is engineered for liquids up to 1.9 times the weight of water, which covers dense chemistries like concentrated sulfuric acid that would over-stress a standard 1.5 SG tank. At 1.9 SG this is the heaviest-duty wall class, so none of the chemistries listed below, including 98% sulfuric acid, require a step-up to a higher-SG tank. Empty, the tank holds roughly 500 pounds of plain water; filled at the full 1.9 rating, contents alone can reach about 951 pounds (60 gallons times 1.9 times the weight of water), so size the slab and any pad for that loaded figure, not the water number. Chemical compatibility

The tank resin is HDLPE rated to 1.9 specific gravity. Compatibility always depends on concentration and temperature, so verify your exact chemical against the OEM chemical-resistance chart, which is concentration- and temperature-specific. A useful rule of thumb on wetted hardware: aggressive acids and oxidizers run Viton gaskets, most salts and bases run EPDM, and peracetic acid uniquely needs Aflas. The mistake to avoid

The costliest error on a double wall acid tank is mismatching the wetted hardware to the chemical. The polyethylene shell tolerates 98% sulfuric acid, but the wrong fitting or gasket material will fail first, and on concentrated acid that becomes a containment event. Sulfuric acid here calls for CPVC fittings and Viton gaskets, not the PVC/EPDM combination that serves the milder salts and bases on the chart.
