The Snyder Industries 60 Gallon Vertical Double Wall Liquid Chemical Storage Tank in White pairs a chemical-rated primary tank with an integral secondary containment shell in one nested unit, so you get built-in spill protection without pouring a separate berm. It is molded in High Density Linear Polyethylene (HDLPE) with a 1.9 specific gravity rating, stands 41 inches tall on a compact 26 x 26 inch footprint, and holds about 500 lb of water at its 60-gallon capacity. For dense chemical service the primary is rated to 951 lb of contents at 1.9 SG, which is what lets it carry heavier liquids that would exceed a standard water-only vertical storage tank.
Will it work for your application?
The 26-inch square base fits through most equipment-room and dock doorways and tucks into tight secondary-containment corners where a wider tank will not. Per the technical drawing on this page, the tank carries a 14" PE threaded/vented top opening plus a manway with 11-3/8" access for cleaning and inspection. Use the 14" vented fitting for fill and venting, and size your pump and level instrumentation against the 951 lb max rated contents weight rather than water volume alone. Confirm the tank suits your liquid's height and density with our Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide. As a double wall tank in a vertical storage tank format, it answers the common need for a self-contained vertical tank from Snyder without building external containment.
Chemical compatibility
The primary tank is HDLPE rated to 1.9 specific gravity, covering a broad band of dense process chemicals. Default hardware is a PVC fitting with an EPDM gasket; the acids and oxidizers below require Viton, CPVC, Aflas, or 316SS as listed, and matching that gasket correctly is the single most expensive detail to get right. Compatibility is concentration- and temperature-specific, so always verify your exact chemical against the OEM chemical-resistance chart before service:
- Acetic Acid (60%) - PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Aluminum Sulfate (50%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Calcium Chloride (40%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
- DEF (32.5%) - 316SS fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Ethylene Glycol (100%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Ferric Chloride (50%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Ferric Sulfate (60%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Ferrous Sulfate (20%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Hydrochloric Acid (37%) - PVC fittings, Viton gaskets
- Hydrofluoric Acid (48%) - PP/PVC fittings, Viton gaskets
- Hydrofluosilicic Acid (26%) - PP/PVC fittings, Viton gaskets
- Hydrogen Peroxide (50%) - PVC fittings, Viton gaskets
- Magnesium Chloride (30%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Peracetic Acid (30%) - 316SS fittings, Aflas gaskets
- Phosphoric Acid (85%) - PVC fittings, Viton gaskets
- Polyaluminum Chloride - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Potassium Carbonate (50%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Potassium Hydroxide (saturated) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Propylene Glycol - PP/316SS fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Sodium Bisulfate - PVC/PP fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Sodium Bisulfite - PVC/PP fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Sodium Carbonate (30%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Sodium Hypochlorite (<16.5%) - PVC fittings, Viton gaskets
- Sodium Thiosulfate (40%) - PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Sulfuric Acid (98%) - CPVC fittings, Viton gaskets
- Urea Solution (50%) - PP/PVC fittings, EPDM gaskets
- Zinc Orthophosphate - PP/316SS fittings, EPDM gaskets
Full concentration and temperature data lives in our Chemical Compatibility Database. Note that sodium hypochlorite must stay below 16.5% and that the high-concentration acids above pair with Viton or CPVC, not standard EPDM.
The mistake to avoid
The most common error on a double wall chemical tank is spec'ing the wrong gasket. Several of these chemicals - hydrochloric, sulfuric, phosphoric, peracetic, and hydrogen peroxide, plus sodium hypochlorite - degrade EPDM and require Viton, Aflas, CPVC, or 316SS hardware as listed. Equally important, do not load past the 1.9 SG rating: at 951 lb of rated contents the tank is at its design limit, so verify your liquid's density before filling.
