6,000 gallons in black, ASTM certified, on a 102 inch base
The Snyder 7430000N33 is a black high density linear polyethylene vertical storage tank, 102 inches across and 188 inches tall, holding 6,000 gallons at 1,650 pounds. Its wall is rated on the spec sheet for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 95,076 pounds of contents against 50,040 for water, it is sold with ASTM certification, and the black resin keeps light out of the contents, which is what stops algae in stored water and slows the light-driven breakdown of some chemicals. Up top is an 18 inch threaded, vented manway, the warranty runs 3 years, and it goes out as oversize freight.

The dark tank on the small pad
Black polyethylene absorbs the ultraviolet that ages a white wall and passes no light to the liquid, so a black tank outdoors in full sun holds water clear for years and keeps a light-sensitive chemical from degrading; it also runs warmer in the sun than a white one, which matters for a liquid that must stay cool. The listing title carries a 1.35 figure; the spec sheet this page is built from rates the wall at 1.9 with 95,076 pounds of contents, and the sheet governs, so the tank is qualified for the dense liquids as well as water. Full, it puts that weight on a 102 inch circle: a designed slab that touches every inch of the floor, following the concrete pad sizing guide, a wind strap on the empty tank, and access to the manway from a fixed platform with a rail. The tank sizing calculator tells you whether 6,000 gallons covers the draw, and the tank sizing guide covers days of supply.
Grades on the 102 x 188 inch tank, and the sizes beside it
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7430000N33 (this tank, black, ASTM certified) | 6,000 | 102 x 188 in | 1,650 lb |
| 7430000N39 (white, 1.35 SG, ASTM certified) | 6,000 | 102 x 188 in | 1,650 lb |
| 7430000N30 (sulfuric grade) | 6,000 | 102 x 188 in | 1,800 lb |
| 7000000C34 (ten foot base) | 6,000 | 120 x 132 in | 1,050 lb |
| 7000000C37-BLACK (ten foot base, black) | 6,000 | 120 x 132 in | 1,050 lb |
| 7140300N40 (ten foot base, XLPE) | 6,000 | 120 x 145 in | 1,500 lb |
| 5250000N40 (low profile, XLPE) | 5,600 | 142 x 102 in | 1,150 lb |
| 8220000C34 (ten foot base) | 6,200 | 120 x 140 in | 1,350 lb |
The N39 is the white certified tank in this shell at this tank's weight, and the N30 the sulfuric acid resin, 150 pounds heavier. The 7000000C37-BLACK is the other black 6,000, on a 120 inch base at 132 inches, 56 inches shorter, for a site with floor and no height, beside the white C34 and the cross-linked 7140300N40 on that base; the 5250000N40 lays 5,600 gallons down to 102 inches, and the 8220000C34 holds 6,200 on the ten foot base.

Where the pipe goes
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 188 inches up; filled by truck through a dip tube, vented outside on anything that fumes, and size the vent for a tanker's unload rate.
- Outlet: the bulkhead fitting is chosen for the liquid at order time; an expansion joint and a flexible connector between the bulkhead and hard pipe, with the valve carried on the slab.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
- Listing: ASTM certification.
A black wall shows no level, so a sender read at ground level is not optional on a tank this tall, and a low-level float switch keeps a pump from running dry. Mount the pump below the outlet so it primes by gravity and keep the manway closed against vapor loss. In a freezing climate insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first run of pipe; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.
Bringing in a load
A tanker unloads faster than the manway can breathe, so the vent is sized for the pump or the fill takes a dedicated top bulkhead with its own vent. The fill pipe reaches the floor, so the liquid enters below the surface instead of free-falling and foaming. The first tanker into a new tank is a supervised job, slab edge and outlet fitting checked as it fills, and from then on each load is logged by date and strength.
The work it does
Water storage in full sun where algae is the enemy, a rain cistern under a large roof, well storage for a community system, light-sensitive chemicals outdoors, and a fire reserve of the kind the fire-water reservoir design guide describes. Several of them are the storage stage of a reuse system for roof water and condensate, per the industrial water reuse tank topology article, where the dark wall keeps the stored water from turning green. One liquid per tank, labeled.
Freight, in plain terms
At 102 inches across and 188 inches long on the deck the 7430000N33 is oversize freight (NMFC 156600) on a flatbed at a lane rate; the freight cost estimator prices the lane to your ZIP; the figure listed here is before freight. A crane sets 1,650 pounds upright on the slab; a forklift unloads it; only a crane stands it. Fill to the manway, hold, inspect the outlet fitting, and keep the certificate where the project file lives. Save the pallet; a tank that ever has to move again is easier to move on it.
