6,000 gallons at 1.9 specific gravity on a 102 inch base, ASTM certified
The Snyder 7430000N45 is a white polyethylene vertical liquid storage tank, 102 inches across and 188 inches tall, holding 6,000 gallons at 1,800 pounds. Its wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 95,076 pounds of contents against 50,040 for water, the chemical-grade wall for ferric chloride at strength, concentrated acids and the heavy brines, it is sold with ASTM certification for jobs that need the paper, and the eight and a half foot base puts a tanker load and a reserve of dense chemical on a pad smaller than the tanker, fifteen and a half feet up. An 18 inch manway, threaded and vented, sits on top; a 3 year warranty comes with it; oversize freight brings it.

The full-density wall on the small pad
A 1.9 specific gravity wall is sized for a liquid nearly twice as dense as water, and 1,800 pounds of resin is what that takes on a shell fifteen and a half feet tall, 150 pounds more than the 1.35 wall in the same mold. The certification is against ASTM D1998; the HDPE tank wall thickness guide explains the sizing logic and why a wall this tall is inspected from the top, in the headspace. Full, it puts 95,076 pounds on a 102 inch circle at the rating: an engineered slab in full contact under the whole floor, inside a berm sized to the tank, with the empty tank strapped against wind at two heights and the manway reached from a fixed platform with a rail, never a ladder. The 6,000 gallon vertical tank buyers guide sets the makers' shapes at this volume side by side; the tank sizing calculator turns feed rate and delivery interval into a volume, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve, which for a dense chemical includes freeboard for thermal expansion.
Grades on the 102 x 188 inch tank, and the sizes beside it
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7430000N45 (this tank, 1.9 SG, ASTM certified) | 6,000 | 102 x 188 in | 1,800 lb |
| 7430000N39 (1.35 SG, ASTM certified) | 6,000 | 102 x 188 in | 1,650 lb |
| 7430000N33 (black, ASTM certified) | 6,000 | 102 x 188 in | 1,650 lb |
| 7430000N30 (sulfuric grade) | 6,000 | 102 x 188 in | 1,800 lb |
| 7140300N40 (ten foot base, XLPE) | 6,000 | 120 x 145 in | 1,500 lb |
| 7000000C34 (ten foot base) | 6,000 | 120 x 132 in | 1,050 lb |
| 7000000C37-BLACK (ten foot base, black) | 6,000 | 120 x 132 in | 1,050 lb |
| 8220000C34 (ten foot base) | 6,200 | 120 x 140 in | 1,350 lb |
| 5250000N40 (low profile, XLPE) | 5,600 | 142 x 102 in | 1,150 lb |
The N39 is the certified 1.35 wall in this shell for alum and the lighter solutions, the N33 the black tank, and the N30 the sulfuric acid resin at this tank's weight, molded for one chemical. The 7140300N40, 7000000C34 and C37-BLACK stand the same 6,000 gallons on a 120 inch base at 145 and 132 inches for a site with floor and less height, the 8220000C34 holds 6,200 there, and the 5250000N40 lays 5,600 gallons down to 102 inches on a 142 inch base.

Ports
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 188 inches up; a dip tube for the fill, an outdoor vent on acid and caustic, and vent capacity to match the tanker.
- Outlet: tell us the chemical when ordering and the bulkhead fitting is matched to it; a flanged transition, an expansion joint, and a valve supported off the slab.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
- Listing: ASTM certification.
Read the level from the ground through a sender chosen for the chemical, not by climbing; leave the manway closed between fills to hold the vapor, and put the tank in shade if the chemical is light-sensitive. Put a regulated chemical in a single wall tank and the berm around it has to hold all of it. Where it freezes, insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first length of pipe.
Filling from a tanker
Unloading a tanker pushes air out faster than a stock manway vent can pass it; size the vent for that rate, or fill through a dedicated top bulkhead vented separately. The fill pipe runs to the floor so caustic or coagulant does not free-fall and foam; on a shell this tall that is a long drop. Diluting a dense chemical makes heat, so a batch is built water first and chemical second, never the reverse. The first load into a new tank gets watched end to end, eyes on the slab edge and the outlet fitting while the level comes up, and from then on each load is logged by date and strength.
Where you will find one
Ferric and other dense coagulants at a plant with a berm and no floor space, acid feed for pH control, heavy brine at plant scale, dense process chemicals delivered by tanker inside a tall building, and water where the buyer wants the heaviest certified wall, including a fire reserve of the kind the fire-water reservoir design guide describes. One chemical, one tank, one label that both inspectors read the same way.
Shipping the tank
At 102 inches across and 188 inches long on the deck the 7430000N45 is oversize freight (NMFC 156600) on a flatbed at a lane rate; the freight cost estimator prices it for your ZIP, and the listed price is before freight. A crane sets 1,800 pounds upright on the slab; unloading is a forklift job, standing it is not. Fill it with water to the manway and hold it, drain and dry, and only then connect the chemical; the certification lives in the project file. Walk the base after the first hard rain; a pad that shifts shows it at the edge first.
