Three thousand pounds of wall

A 1.9 specific gravity wall is sized for a liquid nearly twice as dense as water, and 3,000 pounds of resin is what that takes on the tallest shell Snyder makes, 550 pounds more than the certified 1.5 wall in the same mold and the heaviest vertical in the line. Full, it puts 118,845 pounds on a 102 inch circle at the rating, the most concentrated floor load Snyder makes: an engineered slab with nothing but concrete under the whole floor, following the concrete pad sizing guide, inside a berm sized to the tank, with the empty tank strapped against wind at two heights and the manway reached from a fixed platform with a rail. The N43 is the certified 1.5 wall in this same shell, 550 pounds lighter, for coagulants and brines that never approach this density; the N42 is the heavy cross-linked tank at this tank's weight for the densest oxidizers, and the N40 and N46 the lighter grades. What is fitted

• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 234 inches up; on acid or caustic the vent goes outdoors, the fill goes down a dip tube, and the vent is sized to the tanker pump.
• Outlet: name the chemical when ordering so the bulkhead fitting matches it; a flanged transition, an expansion joint, and a valve supported off the slab.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
• Snyder line: ASTM.

Read the level from the ground through a sender chosen for the chemical, not by climbing; leave the manway closed between fills to hold the vapor, and put the tank in shade if the chemical is light-sensitive. Regulated chemical in a single wall tank means a berm sized to the tank around it. Insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first run of pipe wherever the ground freezes.

When the truck arrives

A tanker's pump moves liquid faster than a manway vent can pass air, so either the vent is sized to the unload rate or the fill comes in through its own top bulkhead with a separate vent line. The fill pipe runs to the floor so caustic or coagulant does not free-fall and foam; on a shell this tall that is a long drop. A dense liquid heats when water is added to it, so a batch tank is filled with water before the chemical, never after. The first load into a new tank gets watched end to end, eyes on the slab edge and the outlet fitting while the level comes up, and each delivery after it is logged with its date and strength.

Applications

Ferric and other dense coagulants at a plant with a berm and no floor space, acid feed for pH control, heavy brine at plant scale, dense process chemicals delivered by tanker inside a tall building with a full reserve, and water where the buyer wants the heaviest certified wall, including a fire reserve of the kind the fire-water reservoir design guide describes. On the truck

At 102 inches across and 234 inches long on the deck the 7440000N45 is oversize freight (NMFC 156600) on a flatbed at a lane rate; the freight cost estimator quotes the haul to your ZIP; what is listed is the price before freight. A crane sets 3,000 pounds upright on the slab; a forklift gets it off the truck but cannot stand it up. Fill it with water to the manway and hold it, drain and dry, and only then connect the chemical; the certification lives in the project file. Mark the vent and the outlet on the outside of the shell so nobody caps the wrong one in the dark.
