Fittings, alarms and the space between the walls

• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 197 inches up; vent outside on hypochlorite and peroxide service, dip tube on the fill, vent sized to the tanker's unload rate.
• Outlet: tell us the chemical when ordering and the bulkhead fitting is matched to it; on a double wall the outlet passes through both walls with a sealed transition, so it is set at the factory.
• Interstice: the space between the walls takes a leak sensor; fit one, wire it to an alarm, and test it with water at commissioning.
• Service limit: 140 F / 60 C.

Delivery day at the manway

Unloading a tanker pushes air out faster than a stock manway vent can pass it; size the vent for that rate, or fill through a dedicated top bulkhead vented separately. The fill pipe runs to the floor so the chemical does not free-fall and foam. The first delivery into a new tank is watched from start to finish, with the interstice sensor and the outlet transition checked as the level climbs, and the log takes the date and strength of every load that follows; for hypochlorite the log is also the turnover schedule.

Getting it to the pad
