1250 Gallon Vertical Liquid Storage Tank

Where it fits

Buy this shape when you want more than a thousand gallons without a bigger pad: a water reserve beside a shop or a packing shed, a rainwater store on the gable end of a barn, a supply tank along a fence line. Check the height first. At 114 inches the top of the tank is nine and a half feet up, which clears most barn and shop ceilings but not a standard eave, and the manway is up there with it, so plan a ladder or a fill line plumbed to the top and fit the float switch or level gauge before the tank goes into service. The 60 inch base needs a flat, level, continuous surface; because it carries 15638 lb at full rating, a concrete pad is the right foundation. What goes in it

Water, rainwater, liquid fertilizer and the common farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Keep the contents below 120 F and below 1.5 times the weight of water. Heavier liquids belong in the heavy duty version of this same shell, rated to 1.9 specific gravity, which Norwesco makes in blue and in black. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall. Your valve, camlock or hose adapter threads straight into it. Turn the tank so the outlet faces the pipe run before the first fill, and support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top, wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, to drop a float in and to get a brush inside. The vent lets air out as you fill and in as you draw down; never plug it.

The tank ships by LTL freight, lying down on the trailer at 114 by 60 by 60 inches with a ship weight of 255 lb, from Norwesco's Fairfield, Texas plant. At the tailgate, check the part number against 44356 on the bill of lading, look over the full length of the shell for transit damage before signing, and fill it with water the first time so any problem shows up with something harmless inside.
