The heavy shell, certified, in the middle wall

A water-rated wall is for water and nothing heavier; the chemical-grade wall is for concentrated acid; a 1.5 wall is the middle, sized for brine, fertilizer solution and coagulant as delivered and every water application, with margin, and this shell carries 1,900 pounds of resin for it, 450 pounds more than the 6,500 gallon tank beside it. The N40 and N42 are cross-linked polyethylene in this shell for oxidizers, the N42 the heavy wall at 2,100 pounds, and the N46 another linear grade at this weight. The 7140000 tanks hold 6,500 gallons on this base 5 inches lower in a lighter shell, the N39 and N45 certified at 1.35 and 1.9, the N33 in black; the 7140000C26 holds 6,900 gallons in the general grade at 1,300 pounds.

What is fitted

• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 158 inches up; filled by truck through a dip tube, vented outside on anything that fumes, and size the vent for a tanker's unload rate.
• Outlet: the bulkhead fitting is chosen for the liquid at order time; an expansion joint and a flexible connector between the bulkhead and hard pipe, with the valve carried on the slab.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
• Listing: ASTM certification.

The white wall shows the level in daylight; fit a sender read at ground level so nobody climbs for a number, and a low-level switch protects the pump. Put the pump below the outlet, where it primes itself, close the manway against vapor loss, and keep a light-sensitive liquid out of direct sun. In a freezing climate insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first run of pipe; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.

When the truck arrives

A tanker's pump moves liquid faster than a manway vent can pass air, so either the vent is sized to the unload rate or the fill comes in through its own top bulkhead with a separate vent line. The fill pipe reaches the floor, so the liquid enters below the surface instead of free-falling and foaming. The first tanker into a new tank is a supervised job, slab edge and outlet fitting checked as it fills, and from then on each load is logged by date and strength.
