A tanker and a reserve under a twelve foot roof

The C37 is the same shell and fitting rated on the sheet for 1.5, the C34 the general grade without the fitting, the C37-BLACK the black one for sun, and the N33 a lighter linear grade. The 7000000C34 holds 6,000 gallons on this base 8 inches lower, and the 7140000N33 holds 6,500 in black 13 inches taller.

The fittings list

• Outlet: 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, installed; thread in a valve, run a flexible connector and an expansion joint to hard pipe, and support the valve off the slab. Three inches feeds a fire pump or a transfer pump without starving it.
• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 140 inches up; filled by truck through a dip tube, vented outside on anything that fumes, and size the vent for a tanker's unload rate.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.

Polypropylene is the fitting for water, brine and most treatment chemicals; check the liquid at its concentration against the fitting as well as the wall before the first fill. The white wall shows the level in daylight; fit a sender read at ground level so nobody climbs for a number, and a float switch at low level shuts the pump off before it runs dry. Set the pump lower than the outlet so gravity primes it, keep the manway shut against vapor loss, and shade the tank if the liquid is light-sensitive. If winters freeze, wrap or drain the outlet valve and the first pipe run.

Vent first, then fill

The driver's pump can deliver faster than the manway vent can breathe, so the vent is sized for the unload rate or the fill goes through a dedicated top bulkhead with its own vent line. The fill pipe runs to the floor so the liquid does not free-fall and foam. The first delivery into a new tank is watched from start to finish, with the slab edge and the outlet fitting checked as the level climbs, and each delivery after it is logged with its date and strength.

Getting it off the truck

A crane or a forklift with long forks sets 1,350 pounds on the slab. Fill it to the manway once, hold it, and check the fitting for a weep before the pump goes on.
