The C26 is the same shell and fitting rated on the sheet for 1.9, the C37-BLACK the black one for sun, the C34 the general grade without the fitting, and the N33 a lighter linear grade. The 7140000N33 holds 6,500 gallons in black 13 inches taller, and the 7000000C34 holds 6,000 on this base 8 inches lower.

Outlet and manway

• Outlet: 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, installed; thread in a valve, run a flexible connector and an expansion joint to hard pipe, and support the valve off the slab.
• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 140 inches up; filled by truck through a dip tube, vented outside on anything that fumes, and size the vent for a tanker's unload rate.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.

Polypropylene is the fitting for water, brine and most treatment chemicals; check the liquid at its concentration against the fitting as well as the wall before the first fill. The white wall shows the level in daylight; fit a sender read at ground level so nobody climbs for a number, and a low-level switch protects the pump. The pump sits below the outlet so it primes by gravity; the manway stays closed; a light-sensitive liquid stays out of the sun. If winters freeze, wrap or drain the outlet valve and the first pipe run; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.

Taking a tanker load

A tanker's pump moves liquid faster than a manway vent can pass air, so either the vent is sized to the unload rate or the fill comes in through its own top bulkhead with a separate vent line. Run the fill pipe to the floor so the liquid does not free-fall and foam. Somebody stands at the tank for the whole of the first delivery, watching the slab edge and the outlet fitting as the level rises, and every delivery after that goes in the log with a date and a strength.

A crane or a forklift with long forks sets 1,350 pounds on the slab. Fill it to the manway once, hold it, and check the fitting for a weep before the pump goes on. Keep one spare gasket for the outlet fitting on the shelf; it is the part that fails on a holiday.
